Donations can be dropped off at the MARS Wildlife Hospital at 1331 Williams Beach Road, Merville, or mailed to P.O. Box 415, Merville, B.C., V0R 2M0
Current Needs
We are in particular need of
- Leafy greens
- Vegetables: things like yams/sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, Brussel sprouts (no regular potatoes)
- Cuttle bone (these are used by squirrels and big beaked birds like Evening Grosbeaks)
We also need
- Unscented bleach
- Dish soap
- Puppy milk replacer: Esbilac
- Kitten milk replacer: KMR
Everyday Needs
The small things really help, and we are always on the lookout for bits and pieces, odds and ends, such as:
- Linens
- Washcloths
- Towels
- Fitted sheets
- Flat sheets
- Pillow cases
- Comforters
- Hospital pads
- Baby bird nests
- Small dog/cat beds
- Fleece / warmie squares
- Carpet squares
- Toilet paper
- Facial tissues/Kleenex
- White paper towel
- Large zip-loc bags
- Garbage bags (small kitchen bags and large black ones)
- Nitrile or latex exam gloves (size medium)
- Human vitamins or supplements (Vitamin B1, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Vitamin E capsules, Cod Liver Oil with Vitamin A & D, calcium, etc)
- Pet medications (Metacam, Clindamycin/Antirobe, Clavaseptin, Clavamox, Baytril, etc.)
- Large bird and critter cages (not cracked, broken, or rusted)
- Toddler/pet safe toys
- Stuffed animals (without pellets or beans)
- Any chewable/edible toys for small mammals and birds (available at Featheredaddictions.com)
Do not donate
It is very hard to say no to generous people, but there are just some items we can’t accept!
Linens
- Knitted / crocheted blankets / doilies
- Mattress protectors
- Pillows
- Duvets and duvet covers
- Shower curtains
- Curtains
- Table cloths
- Clothing
- Anything with holes and dangerous loose threads
For the Wildlife Hospital
- broken or rusted kennels or bird cages
- stuffies with beans or pellets such as Beanie Babies
- certain linens (please see our complete list above)
- used bike tires
- due to avian influenza, we can’t accept poultry or waterfowl meat, or eggs at this time. Please call the hospital regarding donations of venison

For the Visitor Centre
Items for resale such as framed art, used furniture, coffee table books, single copies of books, etc. We don’t have the volunteers or the space required to store, advertise, and sell unique items.
Donated native trees and plants will be considered by the habitat restoration team; some plants don’t suit our site.
